Reno Omokri faces backlash over remarks on pastor Becky Enenche

Social media influencer Reno Omokri has come under heavy criticism for describing Pastor Becky Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre as a “Yahoo girl on the altar.”

Omokri’s controversial remark, made in response to Pastor Enenche’s defence of tithing, has sparked outrage, particularly from the Nigeria Youths Frontiers and Peace Advocates (NYFPA).

In a statement signed by the group’s National Publicity Secretary, Samuel Geofrey, the NYFPA condemned Omokri’s words as “inflammatory, baseless, and deeply irresponsible.” The group accused him of showing disrespect to Christianity and undermining constructive public discourse.

“His statements are an affront to millions of Nigerians who revere their faith and spiritual leaders,” the statement read.

NYFPA further accused Omokri of leveraging divisive rhetoric for relevance, highlighting alleged inconsistencies in his career, personal life, and political affiliations.

“This is not just about Pastor Becky Enenche; it is about the millions of Nigerians who hold their faith sacred,” the group emphasised.

Urging Nigerians to reject divisive narratives, NYFPA called for dialogue, mutual respect, and a focus on unity.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, describing Omokri’s comments as detrimental to societal cohesion.

Omokri, who has a history of polarising remarks on religious and political issues, faces yet another controversy with this incident. Many Nigerians are calling for greater accountability in public commentary, particularly on sensitive matters of faith.
